*UPDATES*

Well it's been a while. Ky is doing great. She's just as silly and healthy as always. Her new hobby is sliding around on our tiled floor. She'll step on a bone and slide around in circles. I guess she's trying to ski. Her new thing to bark at is the iron for some reason every time she sees it (plugged in or unplugged), she goes crazy. It was sitting on the table for a week, one day she just noticed it out of the blue and barked at it for a while. Her new trick is to turn the lights off. She jumps up at the switch and gently flips it down with her mouth. We love her!

This weekend we had a birthday party for a friend. Ky got a hold of one of the baloons, she was carrying it around in her mouth. I was truely amazed, she did eventually pop it, but after a while. Just a great example of the type of dog she is! Gentle Giant!

Be sure to check out the Kya replica I made in stained glass. It's on the Ky pictures page, at the bottom. It's a little silly, but I like it!

Over the weekend I made a pink stained glass kitten for a good friend. Once Ky noticed it she barked at it for a good fifteen minutes. It doesn't look all that real, but apparently Ky thought so. It was funny. Speaking of kitten, we recently got one, at first Ky was obsessed with the thing, she thought it was just another REALLY cool chew toy. But within 2 weeks, they're best friends. She's now very gentle with it. I'm a proud Mom. About a month or so ago, we put up a runner for her. It's about 100 feet long, it stretches from our house to a tree. Well it did. Kya's new nickname is lumberjack because the runner was up for about two days before she pulled the tree down. We've put it up again, hopefully this tree can hold the beast :) I also plan to make a stained glass Dane for her. I'll post a picture when I get finished making it.

Well it sure has been a while. Ky is huge now. I can't weigh her, cause I can't pick her up. Daddy can't weigh her cause the scale doesn't go high enough. She's way taller than me (standing up) I know I'm only 4'11" but that's still pretty tall. At least once a night she likes to bark at nothing at all. Every time she does it we say "once a night!" Things are going great in general. She hasn't gone potty in the house for quite some time, I'm proud of that! I would recommend a Great Dane to anyone who wants a dog. She is the most amusing, loving, curious, silly, gentle dog, and so much more. I'll try to put more pictures up soon.

Just a silly little update. We had quite the adventure Monday night. Luckily Ky was there to save us. A very large ferocious caterpillar some how broke into our house. Ky, being the good little protector she is, protected us from it. She barked at it for 15 minutes. It didn't bother us any more after that! She sure told that mean ol' thing (or made it deaf.) It was VERY amusing.

Well Ky sure has gotten big. She weighs over 50 lbs. now and is steady growing. She can barely fit on the couch cushion now. She listens well. She forgets easily though. She's developed a few more personality traits. She like to chase her tail for half an hour at a time. Often I'll walk into the room to find her just gnawing away on her foot. She like to play "the couch is a trampoline" alot, she'll bounce on it for 10 minutes at a time. The boy gets jealous because the puppy is allowed to, but he's not! She clings to me and barks at Daddy. She loves car rides now. She went camping for the first time and loved it. Unfortunately she can't be as much of a lap dog now because when she cuddles with me (sits on me) I can't breath! I'll have new pictures up soon.

We just returned from a trip to Kentucky to visit relatives. Ky did wonderful! She had fun playing with her cousin Elli, a Golden Retriever. Elli is six months old and Ky is already bigger than her!! She's getting really used to the back of the truck (s.u.v.).

She's definitely adjusted nicely. She's eating as much as she can now (puppy food, clumps of grass and rocks). At first she wouldn't really eat much. She did very well at the vet's office, it's so easy to pick her up and put her on that table...for now! She's meeting as many people and other animals that we can find. She can get up on the couch now all by herself. At times it's hard to deal with her, potty training and teaching her not to bite everything she sees. I think a little bit of patience will pay off in the end. I've posted 3 new pictures on the bottom of this page.

I did a lot of research of which breed to get, a Great Dane fit my life style the best. So far she's a great dog, it's been less than a week though. A little needy at times, crying for attention. But with a face like hers I can't resist. I can't wait until she's the size of a small horse. I plan to update this page as much as possible. Feel free to check back from time to time. I will be creating a guest book soon.
